Nesting red-tail couple in Washington Square, NYC.

Washington Sq Mom on the roof of #1 Fifth Avenue.

The Washington Square Mom has a nasty ill-fitted band on her right leg.
Over the years I have received scorn for my attitude on this practice from all the so called 'raptor experts' who love and support banding. It is very clear that this band is way too tight and cutting into the poor animal's leg. Banding is a thoughtless, useless practice that must be stopped. The harm and discomfort it must bring to these animals cannot justify any possible merits.
